Benitez Denies Threatening To Quit Newcastle Before Man City Shock

Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez insists he never threatened to leave before victory over Manchester City last night.
Speaking directly after the 2-1 win against Manchester City, Benitez spoke positively about the task in hand and said he hoped signings would be on their way before the window slams shut.

Both Antonio Barreca (Monaco) and Miguel Almiron (Atlanta) are due on Tyneside in the next 24 hours for medicals and will arrive in a city still buzzing after beating the champions.

After speculation that he will quit, Benitez said:

I didn't say I will leave.

I said I am a professional and I have my principles and I will do my job until the last minute.

He added:

Today [Yesterday] before the game I was told we were progressing with some names.

They could be good deals for Newcastle United.
