Griezmann Announces He Will Be Leaving Atletico Madrid As Barca Rumours Continue To Grow

Antoine Griezmann has told Atletico Madrid he will not return to the club next season.
The France striker signed a five-year deal with Atletico last season and had a £104million (N48billion) release clause inserted into his contract.

Griezmann rejected a move to Barcelona last summer but after the club announced he informed them he will be moving on on their Twitter account, speculation will again link him with a move to the Nou Camp

Griezmann said in a video posted on the club’s Twitter account:

It has been five incredible years, thank you very much for everything, I carry you in my heart.
Griezmann was said to very frustrated at his side’s early exit from the Champions League – Atletico were dismantled by a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick – and was reportedly looking to leave the club.

That has now been confirmed with the rumours linking him to Barcelona not going away.

Camp Nou chiefs are believed to have previously offered the Frenchman a contract until 2024 where he would earn £13million-per-year, which is understood to be £5million (N2billion)-a-year less than his current wage.

Last summer, Blaugrana stars Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique actively encouraged the club to sign the striker so Barca deal-makers know a potential deal will bode well with the current squad.

The forward scored 21 goals in 43 games for the LaLiga side this season.
