Spanish Press Hail Messi For Winning His SIXTH Ballon d'Or

Lionel Messi wrote his name into the history books once again on Monday night after winning a record-breaking sixth Ballon d'Or.
And the morning after picking up yet another Ballon d'Or at the glitzy awards ceremony in Paris, the Spanish press were quick to hail the Argentine superstar for his astonishing achievements.

Madrid-based Marca ran six pictures of the Barcelona magician picking up every single one of his awards, from a fresh-faced 22-year-old in 2009 to a bearded veteran in 2019.

Meanwhile, Barcelona-based Sport published a picture of Messi with his record six awards, with the headline:

Football only has one god.

Finally, AS and Mundo Deportivo both printed the same picture of Messi standing proudly behind his remarkable six titles, with the former writing 'M6SSI' while the later published 'MESSIX'.

The 32-year-old finished ahead of runner-up Virgil van Dijk and his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo in third.

Monday's triumph now puts Messi - who starred as Barcelona cruised to the La Liga title last season - back out in front on six Ballons d'Or, while Ronaldo is rooted on five.
