Real Madrid's Luka Jovic Must Accept Punishment For Breaking Serbia Quarantine Rules - Father

Luka Jovic's father believes his son must accept any punishment he receives for breaking his coronavirus quarantine to travel back to Serbia.
The Real Madrid striker was widely criticised for flouting the measures put in place to prevent the spread of the pandemic, after the 22-year-old had been spotted in the streets of Belgrade and at his girlfriend's birthday party.

And now the star's father has admitted that Jovic will deserve any potential sanctions should he be guilty of any wrongdoing.

Jovic is being investigated for not following the mandatory self-isolation procedure after returning from a country affected by the virus, according to the Serbian authorities.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also confirmed that Jovic is one of the two football players from the nation under investigation for breaching quarantine.

But the frontman hit back at the criticism, and revealed that he had not been explained the rules after returning to his homeland.

And now Milan Jovic has weighed in on the controversy, telling Marca:

Luka had two [coronavirus] tests done and he tested negative on both. That's why he thought he could come to Serbia.

Now it seems like he's a major criminal. If he has to go to jail, then he goes.

I'm totally in agreement with the [Serbian] president and prime minster [for threatening criminal charges], but only if he's guilty.

I would support that decision if he'd done something wrong, but he arrived in Belgrade and stayed at home.

[His girlfriend] Sofia is pregnant and she couldn't go out [to celebrate her birthday].

Some photos have emerged of the two out having fun, but they were from Spain.

Real Madrid had advised their players to self-isolate after the club's basketball player, Trey Thompkins, tested positive for coronavirus.

However, the club later revealed that Jovic had been given special permission to jet home due to medical reasons, and the striker returned to Serbia last Thursday.
